It’s the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution, and much has been said about how the country has not progressed since then. But democracy is a constant process. There is no endpoint that will be reached. And making sure that the country is becoming a better place is the duty of every citizen, whether it’s us ordinary citizens voting for the right people and demanding justice and better service from our public officials, “important” people remembering that they have to live in this society too and using their power and influence for the betterment of all, and politicians remembering that their duty is to the people and not to their pockets and patrons.
