On December 20, this video made the rounds online, showing the dismal path between SM North and Trinoma.
There used to be an actual bridge and a neater pathway between the two malls, but with the construction of the MRT-3, pedestrians were left with … that.
The Department of Transportation has finally gotten wind of the problem and has committed to working with the two malls to construct a covered walkway, to which we say, “Ngayon niyo lang napansin ‘to?” The existing path has been dismal and unsafe for years and it’s always incredible how the government—no matter whose administration is in power—only heard about people’s problems through social media. This is something that the contractor and the government should be aware of if they are regularly inspecting the area and actually notice how difficult it is to navigate. Pedestrians deserve better.
