I don’t get to go to many election campaign rallies very often, so when I found out that Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan were holding a “Pink Sunday” rally at Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC), I immediately decided to go.
I got there before 10 a.m., which sounds pretty late considering how early the rally started, but the activities were still underway, and Robredo and Pangilinan haven’t even delivered their speeches yet. I was fortunately to find parking outside of QMC and then made my way inside, following the footsteps of other attendees clad in pink.
Here are a few reminders for when you’re attending a rally or any outdoor event for that matter:
- Keep your bag light. You don’t want to be weighed down by a heavy pack.
- Wear supportive footwear.
- Put on sunscreen.
- Bring your own bottle of cold water. Something modestly sized if it’s just for you. Again, it’s to make sure that you’re comfortable and not weighed down.
- Wear a mask.
- Bring a towel; it can get really hot in crowds.
- Scan the area to know where the first aid stations, assistance desks, and exit routes are.
Check out my video from the rally below.
The rally was pretty peaceful and cheerful, and felt like a nice day out for friends and family. Call it people feeling hopeful about the future of the country, which is always nice to see.
